Business Unit Director

How the Business Unit operates within the Group, which customer needs it addresses, and in which technical and market areas it specializes?

Objectives and Operating Model

Our goal is to understand and meet client needs by offering consulting services without industry constraints. The experience gained working with both large enterprises — complex organisations — and SMEs enables us to understand and address a wide range of requirements. Whether the client is a “cruise ship” looking for specific functions, roles or crew members, or is “seeking both a vessel and a crew,” we support them with dedicated resources, tailored services or managed services that are part of our offering. Our strength lies precisely in our ability to adapt, allowing us to operate across different domains and consistently provide the right level of consulting to each client.

Problems We Solve

We address any need that requires an ongoing service or continuous support.

Technical and Market Specialisation

We specialise in system support services, regardless of the industry in which the client operates. Historically, our core focus has been the Finance market, but in recent years we have expanded our activities, delivering Linux and Windows support services to a growing number of clients across multiple sectors.

What services does the Business Unit offer to its clients, and how are they delivered—through customization, technology partnerships, and “as-a-service” models?

Core Services

As mentioned, we provide fully tailor-made system support, designed specifically for each client. There are no standard solutions: we analyse the context, infrastructures and operational needs to deliver a service that truly aligns with our clients’ requirements. Our approach is pragmatic and results-oriented: we intervene with precision, integrate into the client’s processes, and adapt our tools to their technical and organisational priorities.

Customised Solutions

Through an extensive network of partnerships with other companies, we are able to expand our offering with additional products and services beyond those already described.

“As-a-Service” Offerings

These represent the core of this BU’s portfolio: managed services tailored to the specific needs of our clients.

Which technologies does the Business Unit work with, which certifications does it hold, and what sets it apart in the way it operates?

Technologies and Platforms

We operate on the most widely adopted systems, providing support across multiple platforms and covering installation, configuration, maintenance and day-to-day infrastructure management.

Certifications and Expertise

At present, the BU holds the Red Hat RHCE certification, which provides a solid foundation of expertise and also supports opportunities across other company BUs. Our certification portfolio is continuously expanding in line with evolving market trends.

Our Key Strength

We stand out for flexibility and availability. Thanks to a strong network of internal skills, a dynamic commercial team and a high-level partner ecosystem, we are able to respond quickly and flexibly to client requests — even when requirements are complex or non-standard. We consistently strive to adapt to the context and priorities of those who choose to work with us.

What are the Business Unit’s core services, and which activities best represent its expertise and way of working?

Ongoing System Support

One of the most representative services of our activity is first-level system support and operational management for one of Europe’s leading banking groups. This is a 24/7 service, delivered across three operational shifts, which we have been managing continuously for many years. It is a “behind-the-scenes” service, yet of strategic importance: it is not a help desk for the bank’s end customers, but a technical control centre that monitors and intervenes on any issues affecting the banking group’s IT infrastructure.

Second-Level Management and Specialist Services

For the same bank, we also manage part of the second-level operations, dedicated to so-called specialist services. These involve specific environments that do not fully comply with the bank’s standard configurations, due to historical reasons or particular requirements of international clients using the bank’s infrastructure in a hosting model. Among the most critical services we oversee is the management of the SWIFT network, the platform that enables interbank communication for international money flows. This service is delivered within an RTI (Temporary Business Consortium), in collaboration with another provider, confirming the robustness of our operating model and our ability to work effectively within complex and highly regulated ecosystems.

Cross-Functional, Multi-Client Support

In addition to the above, we provide cross-functional system support to multiple clients, working closely with colleagues from the SAP Units. In practice, we intervene whenever an issue originates at the underlying operating system level or directly within the infrastructure. This collaborative model sees us involved across a wide range of different contexts.

Reference Sectors

As mentioned, our primary market is Finance; however, over the years we have expanded our presence into other sectors as well, always maintaining the same approach: tailored services, operational continuity, and total flexibility in addressing client needs.

How does the Business Unit measure the quality and effectiveness of its services?

Client-Defined Metrics

Each client has its own evaluation methods and criteria, which is why we adopt the metrics defined by each individual customer. We believe that the most effective measure of quality is one that directly reflects the client’s operational needs and success parameters.

Our work therefore aligns with their standards, consistently ensuring transparency, consistency and verifiable results.

How does the Business Unit approach innovation, which trends does it follow, and which new services is it developing?

Approach to Innovation

Our Business Unit also supports clients throughout their innovation journey. Our role is to respond precisely to their needs, adapting processes and tools to enable and sustain their evolution. When a client adopts new technologies or operating models, we align with them and actively support the change.

Market Trends

In line with the above, we follow the trends driven by our clients and by the market itself. This allows us to stay constantly up to date and maintain a pragmatic perspective that is closely aligned with real market needs.

Which other Business Units does the team collaborate with, and what cross-unit service model best represents its way of working?

Internal Collaboration

We work continuously with the other Business Units within the group, supporting the system layer of the SAP BUs and collaborating closely with the BUs focused on development. These partnerships allow us to integrate complementary skills and offer clients comprehensive solutions that combine our system expertise with application and management capabilities.

Cross-Functional Offering and Operating Model

Our strength does not lie in a predefined package, but in a collaborative and cross-functional model. When we engage in a specific domain, we always aim to maximise synergies with other BUs, creating up-selling or cross-selling opportunities that deliver added value both to the client and to the organisation. This approach characterises the entire company and enables us to deliver an integrated offering capable of covering multiple layers of service.

What value does the Business Unit represent, and which keywords best describe its identity?

Our Value

We are a Business Unit ready to embrace client needs and support them with expertise, availability and experience. Every request is addressed through a practical and collaborative approach: we listen, analyse and deliver tailored solutions, always ensuring presence and reliability. Our strength lies in our ability to adapt, providing continuous support even in highly diverse and complex contexts.

Our Keywords

Two words best summarise the way we work: flexibility and availability. These principles guide everything we do and enable us to build strong, long-lasting relationships with our clients, grounded in mutual trust and continuity of service.

What message would you like to communicate to the market?

We want to make it clear that we are always available and ready to meet our clients’ needs, with a practical mindset and a collaborative approach. We do not claim to do everything, but we always know how to find a solution. If a client has not yet clearly defined their needs, we help them clarify them; if they already know what they require, we work to build the most appropriate response — never imposing, always guiding.

We want to be recognised for this approach: open, flexible and results-oriented.

Alveo, a new name for a solution provider with 27 years of history

Composed of three companies operating across 15 locations nationwide and with more than 600 employees, we are one of the key players in Italy’s digital transformation.
Specialised in the ICT sector, we provide complete, integrated IT solutions to large enterprises and national and international SMEs across key industries. These include defence and aerospace, distribution, energy, finance, logistics, manufacturing, fashion, healthcare, the public sector and telecommunications.
Until June 2024, we were part of the Retelit Group, which in 2019 had acquired the operations of Partners Associates S.p.A. (“PA Group”), now incorporated into our organisation. We are owned—within an innovative broad-based equity partnership model—by a pool of financial investors alongside the company’s senior operational management.
Our mission is to continue the system integrator journey launched in 1998 by PA Group, driving both organic growth and a targeted acquisition strategy aimed at fostering technological and commercial synergies, and ultimately expanding the services we offer to the market.

The name Alveo is designed to evoke the idea of a container of the Group’s core values—particularly the quality of our human capital and the breadth of our expertise—while also reflecting our ambition to integrate complementary and synergistic businesses through M&A initiatives and strategic partnerships.

We are committed to the integrated introduction of strategic consulting, innovation and the most advanced digital technologies into the organisational processes of approximately 3,000 clients across both the private and public sectors.
