PA EXPERTISE

NDK Europe achieves all the advantages of a fully cloud-based application architecture with the upgrade project to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, while maintaining the efficiency of EDI flows with the Japanese parent group.

NDK Europe is the company that manages distribution activities in Europe for the Japanese group NDK, a manufacturer of crystal-related products including crystal devices, ultrasonic transducers, synthetic quartz, and hollow crystal. Having adopted the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP solution for over 10 years, NDK Europe decided to undertake the upgrade project to the new Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations version, leveraging its advanced features and improved user experience.

CHALLENGE

The project’s primary challenge was to maintain the same effectiveness and efficiency of EDI exchange flows with the parent company in Japan and logistics flows, while simultaneously adopting the advanced capabilities of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. The complexity of the upgrade involved transitioning from the well-established Dynamics AX2012 R3 version to the new cloud architecture, ensuring operational continuity and preserving critical integrations with the group’s systems.

SOLUTION

The project involved upgrading the entire ERP system from Dynamics AX2012 R3 to the cloud-based Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations version, with simultaneous modernization of reporting tools:

  • Migration from SQL Server Reporting to Azure Synapse Link for data processing
  • Implementation of Power BI for advanced reporting and Business Intelligence
  • Maintenance and optimization of EDI flows with the NDK group in Japan
  • Adoption of advanced standard features and the new Dynamics 365 F&O user experience

Alveo, a new name for a solution provider with 27 years of history

Composed of three companies operating across 15 locations nationwide and with more than 600 employees, we are one of the key players in Italy’s digital transformation.

In November of the same year, through PA Expertise, Alveo acquired IT Strategy S.r.l., a company that supports the adoption of Microsoft infrastructures, Cloud solutions and Modern Workplace environments, also offering Managed Services with a model particularly suited to SMEs. IT Strategy specialises in compliance consulting and cybersecurity, with advanced competencies to address the latest regulatory requirements. Its distinctive assets include compliance analysis services and the proprietary Digital 365 suite for the digital management of business processes. Its operational headquarters are located in Vicenza.
